Ben Affleck Had Diane Sawyer Read A Thank You Note He Wrote For Jennifer Garner

Get the Full StoryI guess people aren t exactly camping out on the sidewalks for tickets to Ben Affleck s new movie The Way Back, where he plays a sad drunk, that opens in a couple of weeks. It s a tough sell since we ve already seen Ben s personal life fall apart in real time, and we don t really need to see yet another inspirational underdog sports movie that isn t Rudy 2: The Kid s Still Got It. That s probably why we re getting complimentary front row seats to The Ben Affleck Is Sober And Sorry Now Show. Congratulations to us all!

Yesterday we read about his New York Times interview where he talked about his compulsive behavior and how that led to his alcohol abuse which in turn exacerbated his marital problems. He also said that his biggest regret in life was his divorce from Jennifer Garner. Now, according to People, Ben s taking his regret a step further by indirectly, publicly, thanking Jennifer for her support via Diane Sawyer who read an open letter from Ben to Jen during an interview on Good Morning America. Stars, they really are just like us!

The actor recently sat down with Good Morning America s Diane Sawyer to discuss his road to sobriety and public divorce from Garner. After showing the pre-recorded interview with Affleck, Sawyer read aloud a public thank you that he made about his ex wife.

What I want to say publicly and privately is, Thank you. Thank you for being thoughtful, considerate, responsible, and a great mom and person, Sawyer, 74, read.

I would love it if now Jen would do an interview with Gayle King and sit smugly by while Gayle reads a letter from Jen to Ben that reads no shit, but thanks for the publicity. In the interview, Ben also expressed disappointment over becoming a divorced person, despite meeting all prerequisites that led to the dissolution of his marriage.

I didn t want to get divorced, I didn t want to be a divorced person, I really didn t want to be a split family with my children, he shared. It upset me because it meant I wasn t who I thought I was and that was so painful and so disappointing. In myself.

I wonder if there was ever a tiny voice in his head telling him not to become a married person in the first place that he ignored?
