Olympic Gold Medalist Klete Keller Has Been Charged For Taking Part In The Attack On The Capitol

Get the Full Story38-year-old Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer, Klete Keller, was identified earlier this one as one of the people who sieged on the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. as part of an attempted insurrection. Well, turns out there are consequences to taking part in an attack that left five people dead. Federal consequences in fact. NBC News says Klete was charged in federal court over the riots.

Klete won a gold medal in the 4 200-meter relay at the 2004 Athens games and also took gold at the 2008 Beijing games. He also has a silver medal from the 2000 Sydney Olympics. After Klete s professional swimming career ended, his marriage fell apart, he got divorced and ended up homeless and living out of his car for ten months. With the help of his sister, Klete was able to move out of his car and got a job in real estate.

Well, Klete s life has taken another turn as he was easily ID d at the Capitol attack thanks to his height he s 6 6 and the Olympic Team USA jacket he wore. And now he s been charged.

Keller, 38, was charged in Washington, D.C., with obstructing law enforcement, knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct, according to a criminal complaint.

Some have called for Klete to be stripped of his Olympic medals The CEO of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, Sarah Hirshland, issued a statement where she didn t mention Klete or the talk of taking away his medals but she did condemn the siege:

First off, I strongly condemn the actions of the rioters at the U.S. Capitol At home, and around the world, Team USA athletes are held to a very high standard as they represent our country on the field of play and off. What happened in Washington, D.C., was a case where that standard was clearly not met.

Last week the acting US attorney in Washington, Mike Sherwin, said that 55 people had been charged for various offenses, including unlawful entry, assault, theft, and weapons charges.

Well, if they all end up being convicted and serving prison time, there will be so many other MAGAs with Klete Keller s Riverdale character-sounding ass in prison. They can form their own gang. I smell a new show on the horizon: MAGA Is The New Black.
