Oops, Pete Hegseth just proudly ended a major achievement of the first Trump administration

Get the Full StoryFor once, Pete Hegseth seems in a good mood. Since the inauguration, barely a week has passed without him being wrapped up in some embarrassing blunder, and though Trump is gritting his teeth and praising him in public, you can bet he s getting chewed out behind those closed Oval Office doors. His big achievement of the moment is that he s proudly ENDED the Women, Peace and Security Program, which he claims is woke , divisive and social justice . GOOD RIDDANCE , apparently. Well, uh, Pete ol buddy, you might want to squeeze that cork back into the champagne bottle assuming there s anything left in there , because you just ended one of the most lauded acts of uh, Donald Trump. This morning, I proudly ENDED the Women, Peace & Security WPS program inside the DeptofDefense.WPS is yet another woke divisive social justice Biden initiative that overburdens our commanders and troops distracting from our core task: WAR-FIGHTING.WPS is a UNITED Pete Hegseth PeteHegseth April 29, 2025 Yup, as unlikely as it sounds, the Women, Peace and Security Act was a rare jewel in the crown of the first Trump administration and sailed through with significant Trump support. A month ago Marco Rubio even held this up as a bill I was very proud to have been a co-sponsor of when I was in the Senate . Kristi Noem even co-authored it, and Mike Waltz helped it become law! Hegseth seems to be under the mistaken belief that this was a Biden initiative , indicating that he merely read the name of the Act, assumed it was lib stuff, and brought the hammer down on it. What s coming next will now be a familiar routine for Hegseth: doubtless he ll be summoned to the White House and get yelled at by a furious Trump, all the more angry because he knows he can t fire this buffoon without the liberal media crowing they ve claimed a major scalp. Most in Washington assume Hegseth is a dead man walking, that Trump is already figuring out his replacement, and is merely waiting for an opportune time to jettison this dead wood with a minimum of bad press. But until then, the United States defense is in the shaky hands of a man who doesn t seem to know the meaning of official secrets, who leaks like a sieve, and who his former Fox News colleagues apparently had to babysit when he was day drunk. I have no doubt his Trump-appointed successor will be someone just as awful, but perhaps we could at least hope for someone who doesn t spend each day stumbling from one calamity to another.
