The short video posted by contentwithcee Chels features instructions on how to make a crab boil using an air fryer, however, the poster makes the controversial choice to use live crabs. Shockingly the video is still up although it won t be linked here due to the content. In the video we see Chels drop the crabs in a bowl, cover them with a variety of seasonings and then place them in the air fryer while they are still very much alive. As you d expect the crabs proceed to experience one of the worst deaths imaginable as they are slowly cooked alive. People on TikTok do not condone the animal cruelty Almost all the comments on the original video express anger towards the poster. One person wrote, there was literally no need to put them in alive. Another viewer pointed out that during a certain portion of the video it sounds like the crabs are screaming. While crabs technically don t have the organs necessary to vocalize a scream, they do feel pain according to science.org. They are also sentient enough to feel fear, meaning if they could scream they probably would. Others mentioned Howie the crab, a popular TikTok account featuring two very intelligent crabs known as Howie and Winnie. The lovable crustaceans have shown many just how intelligent crabs really are which makes what was done in the air fryer video even more disturbing.
